School stress affects most students in varying ways, from difficulty sleeping, trouble concentrating, panic attacks, depression to feelings of isolation.
Students in secondary and tertiary education settings face a wide range of ongoing stressors related to academic demands. Previous research indicates that academic-related stress can reduce academic achievement, decrease motivation and increase the risk of school dropout. The longer-term impacts include reduced likelihood of sustainable employment.

Our experience in the area
Ivana's experience and passion for working with Adolescents started off as a teacher to high school aged children and further grew in the role of a school counsellor. This experience has given her an insight into an effective communication with children aged 11 to 18 years of age. Her previous work has allowed her to counsel high school aged children from disadvantaged backgrounds presenting with grief and loss following parental separation, family violence, DHHS Child Protection intervention; generalised anxiety, and self-harming behaviour.
Having undergone many years of university education Ivana understands the pressures to juggle life and study, especially as a mature aged student. This experience gives her an opportunity to relate to her clients’ issues and worries and very equipped to help them deal with study stresses
